It’s getting tight – Photographic Notes from the Space Age
Exhibition at the f2 Photo Festival Dortmund
A series combining new photographs with archival material from the years 2023 to 2025. C-prints and cyanotypes, various formats.
It’s getting tight – Photographic Notes from the Space Age explores the relationship between chaos and order in outer space. At a time when the race for satellites and dominance in space has long begun – often without regard for ecological or ethical consequences – the work turns its gaze toward the increasing pollution of Earth’s orbit and its symbolic dimension.
Satellites have become indispensable to our everyday lives – enabling navigation, communication, weather forecasting, and global interconnectedness. Our growing dependence on them makes their presence in space both essential and threatening.
The GPS coordinates of the shooting locations point to this connection: they mark our earthly position within the global system – and create a bridge between Earth and orbit.
It’s getting tight is a visual reflection on the tension between control and loss of control, progress and responsibility – and on the question of how we, as humanity, want to understand and shape our place in the universe.
